DISPERSAN software

The user-friendly software DISPERSAN is aimed at calculating dispersion characteristics of a population, community etc. Detailed explanations can be found in Appendix 1 (PDF file) that can be downloaded together with the computer code. The following establishes correspondence between the software attributes and designations and formulae as they appear in Appendix 1.

Difference Array (Distance Matrix):                          dij (i, j = 1, 2, …, n),

Type Frequencies Vector (Relative Abundances):     pi (i = 1, 2, …, n),

where n is number of types

Components of Dispersion_1 (Da)

Dispersion_1 (Da) with parameter a:                                                              equation 1

Dispersion_1 (Da) Effective Difference de:                                                    equation 3

Proper Dispersion_1 (Da) Effective Number n0e = ne(de):                              equation 5

Number of Effectively Distinct Types at Difference Level d, ne(d):              equation 4

Components of Dispersion_2 (D’a)

Dispersion_2 (D’a) with parameter a:                                                             equation 7

Dispersion_2 (D’a) Effective Difference de:               numerical solution of equation 8

Proper Dispersion_2 (D’a) Effective Number n0e = ne(de):                             equation 9

(for d=de obtained from eq. 8)

Number of Effectively Distinct Types at Difference Level d, ne(d):              equation 9

DISPERSAN needs a programming environment of the Microsoft .NET Framework (Version=v4.5.2 or later), an integral Windows component.
