The Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology engages in cutting-edge research, teaching, and training programs to address the basic questions in biology from the molecular perspective. Faculty and students are committed to delivering the highest standard of research in a diverse range of disciplines spanning biochemistry, biophysics, molecular ecology, molecular genetics, cell biology, systems biology, computational biology, and bioinformatics. Their research advances scientific knowledge in such areas as cancer therapies, protein structure, learning and memory, neurodegenerative diseases, and gene regulation.
The distinguished faculty members have published hundreds of studies, chaired international workshops, and produced patents. They provide research mentorship and classroom instruction to the next generation of scientists. Interested students are welcome to apply to our MSc and PhD programs. Post-doctoral positions are also available.
