The Mediterranean Moist Scrub Section
A Moist Scrub, or Moist Woodland, is a plant formation that forms only at North and high areas of Israel, or at steep north-facing slopes in the mountains, where there is a relatively high amount of water available for the plants.
A Mediterranean Moist Scrub is a plant formation that exists only at high elevation areas in the Northern parts of Israel, or at steep north-facing slopes in the mountains, where the sun's radiation is smaller and the amount of water that is available for the plants is higher, so trees and plants that are not drought-resistant can develop.
At the Moist scrub, the plant community is joined by trees such as Bossier Oak (Quercus boissieri), Bear's Plum (Prunus ursina) and Syrian Maple (Acer obtusifolium).
The Moist Scrub is not as dense as the Mediterranean Scrub, due to many wide-leaf trees that shade the ground and prevent shrubs from growing. at the Mediterranean region, on river banks, there is a plant community of Oriental Plane (Platanus orientalis) with Myrtle (Myrtus communis) and Oleander (Nerium oleander) shrubs.
