Bio-Layer Interferometry (BLI)

BLI is an optical technology that measures the changes in interference pattern between light waves.

Sartorius’s Octet® BLI platforms measure light interference originating from the tip of the biosensor surface where light wavelengths are made to reflect from two layers:

a biocompatible layer at the end of the biosensor surface and an internal reference layer.

Applications

  • Binding Kinetics and Affinity

  • Concentration analysis

  • Potency analysis

Requirements

  • Octet biosensors with the required surface modification

  • Means to attach one of the interacting partners to the biosensor

  • A black 96-well plate from Greiner (cat. #655209)

Advantages

  • Real time measurements

  • Fast and easy method

  • Samples may be recovered

  • High throughput

  • Biosensors can be reused
