The Shmunis School of Biomedicine and Cancer Research recently hosted a conference at the Peres Peace Center, showcasing the school's commitment to innovation, excellence, and collaboration.

 

Held in July 2022, the event featured presentations from various school units, each highlighting new activities in their respective research fields, such as genetics, cancer research, biochemistry, microbiology, bioinformatics, and cell biology. Attendees included dozens of students, lecturers, researchers, and staff from diverse laboratories. The conference offered a rich program, encompassing professional lectures, poster displays, one-minute talks, an award ceremony, and the festive Shmunis Dinner/DJ party celebration.

 

Notable award winners from the event were:

  • First place: Bruria Samuel, a PhD student from the laboratory of Dr. Dudu Burstein.
  • Second place: Marina Druisekas, a post-doctoral fellow from the laboratory of Prof. Judith Berman.
  • Third place: Dr. Nadejda Sigal, a research worker from the laboratory of Prof. Anat Herskovitz.

 

"Special new insights"

The event was organized by Prof. Vered Padler-Karvani, who shared her thoughts on the significant day: "It was a momentous occasion where everyone at the conference delved into new and revolutionary research. I am confident that we have succeeded in enriching their world with special new insights. I believe that these types of events will lead to new meaningful collaborations between the researchers in the various laboratories and will encourage students to lead future research in their field."
