Award-Winning Scholars
Our scholars are decorated with many awards. Here is a partial list:
The Gazit lab focuses on molecular self-assembly of proteins, peptides, and many other biomolecules into nanostructures.
This research is relevant to basic physiological processes as well as various disease states, including degenerative disorders, inborn error disorders and malignancy processes in which tumor suppressor proteins form aggregative structures.
The basic mechanistic understanding of the processes discovered by the Gazit group will facilitate the design of small compounds that halt the assembly process, thereby serving as novel drugs for neurodegenerative disease and cancer. One such compound is already in clinical trials for the treatment of age-related macular degeneration (AMD).
