The Gophna Lab studies processes of genome evolution in archaea and bacteria, and their ecological impacts. We mostly focus on CRISPR-Cas systems, host-virus interactions, and the human microbiome in inflammatory bowel disease.

  • 2019 - The Sarov prize for basic research (Israeli Society for Microbiology)
  • 2018 - Elected Member, European Academy of Microbiology
  • 2008 - The Nili Rubinovich-Grossman memorial award for outstanding young scientists (Israeli Society for Microbiology)
