With over the 28 years of being active in these fields, Prof. Itai Benhar is an expert in the fields of antibody engineering, drug discovery and drug delivery. Research in Prof. Benhar’s group is currently focused on three major topics:
- evaluation of novel formats of bispecific antibodies as potential therapeutic agents.
- Antibody discovery for treating cancer, allergy, inflammation, and viral infections.
- Targeted drug-carrying nanomedicines.

Prof. Benhar mentored 30 PhD students and 55 MSc students.
As of September 2020, Prof. Benhar is the Director of the Tel Aviv University for Combatting Pandemics.
