Circuits & Coding

Functional circuits lie at the foundation of many complex biological systems. They span multiple levels, ranging from gene-regulatory networks in the nucleus, to the neuronal networks comprising the human brain. Recent technological advances enable us for the first time to simultaneously measure multiple elements within these networks revealing their complexity. Simplifying this complexity by revealing the structural and functional principles governing these networks, as well as the coding schemes utilized by these networks, is an emerging challenge in science.
