The Bacharach Lab investigates virus-cell interactions. Cancer-related topics include how cancer-causing viruses (the murine leukemia viruses) change the genome of infected cells, and how to engineer viruses to infect and kill cancer, but not normal cells.
- The Rosansky Award by The Herbert Irving Cancer Center, Columbia University.
- The Sarov Prize in Microbiology by the Israel Society for Microbiology.
- United States - Israel Binational Agricultural Research and Development Fund (BARD).
- Our discovery of the tilapia lake virus (TiLV) received recognition from BARD as one of the top three impactful research projects in the social and environmental domains, funded over four decades.
- Our Discovery of the Trout Granulomatous Virus (TGV) granted us the special Pioneer Track Grant by BARD.
