TAU Update: Spring Semester Logistics and Fall Exam Rescheduling Amid Ongoing War
Tel Aviv University's Office of the Rector has released an update regarding the continuation of the academic year. Below are the key guidelines for the upcoming months.

Spring Semester and Campus Activity
- The Spring Semester is scheduled to begin on Sunday, April 12, 2026.
- The semester will be shortened to 12 weeks of study per course.
- If a physical return to campus is not possible, studies will commence remotely via Zoom.
- The end date of the semester is undetermined and will depend on the need to complete Fall Semester examinations.
- Faculty members are asked to open Moodle course sites early to enable advance study.
- The university is operating under Home Front Command guidelines, which permit attendance at workplaces with access to a regulated protected space.
- Most laboratory staff have returned to activity, allowing research students to come to campus to continue their research.
Fall Semester Exams and Academic Requirements
- Cancelled Fall examinations will take place during the Spring Semester alongside ongoing coursework.
- Notice of rescheduled exams will be provided at least five days in advance, and one week in advance whenever possible.
- Three exam dates will be offered, but students may only take exams on two of the available dates.
- Academic units are considering replacing some exams with alternative forms of assessment where academically possible.
- The submission deadline for Fall Semester seminar papers has been extended to May 15, 2026.
Tuition Fee Exemptions Students postponing their final degree requirement will receive an exemption from extension of studies fees for the Spring Semester 2025 to 2026 in the following cases:
- Students enrolled in Fall Semester courses who submit their final requirement by May 15, 2026.
- Students who completed course attendance in the 2024 to 2025 academic year who submit their final requirement by May 15, 2026.
- Students assigned to Group C under the 2025 to 2026 framework who submit their final requirement by July 7, 2026.
- Students evacuated due to the "Roaring Lion" war (Group G as of February 28, 2026) who submit their final requirement by July 7, 2026.
Reserve Duty Accommodations
- The Fall Semester classification for reserve soldiers and frontline army personnel is extended through April 11, 2026.
- Reserve service from March 29 to April 11, 2026, counts toward accommodations in both the Fall and Spring Semesters.
- Accumulating 35 days of reserve service during the 2025 to 2026 academic year qualifies students for Group B status in the Spring Semester.

Reservists serving over 300 days, or their spouses who are parents of children up to age 13, will be assigned to Group C for the Spring Semester.
