Cell Biology and Immunology

HEBREW VERSION

About the Program

The track provides an academic framework of excellence with the appropriate curriculum of studies to complement the experimental training of the student in one of the laboratories of our faculty that perform research in this area. The aim is to enable the student to obtain an MSc in the fields of Cell Biology and Immunology with a strong experimental and theoretical background, opening the doors for further PhD studies or for teaching and/or research in related industry or in the health system.

Why Cell Biology and Immunology?

The Cell Biology and Immunology track is taught in English and designed to prepare students for future independent careers in research and teaching in cell biology and immunology or related disciplines. The educational program emphasizes interdisciplinary training and collaborative and interactive research, an approach based on the idea that solving difficult problems requires the integration of individuals with common goals but differing expertise. A large number of top-rated labs are affiliated to this MSc track, giving the student a range of options of research topics. Research in this program enables acquaintance with cutting edge scientific instrumentation for molecular, cell biology and biochemical studies, advanced microscopy and work with cell culture and animal models.

Program Chair

I feel privileged to head the prestigious MSc program of Cell Biology and Immunology at the Faculty of Life Sciences of Tel Aviv University. This field is at the cutting edge of the amazing progress in recent years in tackling and curing numerous diseases. The prerequisite for this progress is understanding the functioning of our cells, the communication between them and the malfunction of the cellular pathways in the different pathologies. Molecular biology approaches are applied to the study of protein folding, traffic and protein quality control, glycobiology, virology, immunology of cancer, neurodegeneration and others.

All these research subjects are the focus of the large number of labs in our track. We also have a large choice of established and new graduate courses, constantly renewed to keep up with the progress in the field. I make a point of personally understanding the aspirations of each new student, answering all questions and supporting their progress once in the program. Your success as a student is our success. Students graduating from our program are received with open arms everywhere, whatever your choice of future career.
