Biography

Eran Bacharach is the head of a research laboratory for molecular virology at the Department of Cell Research and Immunology, and teaches courses on microbiology, molecular virology and cell biology, at the Faculty of Life Sciences, where he has been on the faculty since 2000. He received his B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from the Hebrew University and conducted his postdoctoral research at the laboratory of Prof. Stephen P. Goff , Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics, Howard Hughes Medical Institute, Columbia University.

Research Interests

My research interests are:

  • Molecular virology;
  • Replication of human and animal RNA viruses in general and of retroviruses and metapneumoviruses in particular;
  • Oncolytic viruses;
  • Gene transfer with retroviral vectors;
  • Analysis of virus-host interactions;
  • Innate immune response to viral infections.
