Our research combines ecology and evolutionary biology to examine host-parasite interactions. We freshwater fish and crustaceans to investigate a diverse array of questions, such as why sexual reproduction is favored over asexual reproduction in the presence of parasites? How infection by multiple parasite strains or species affects the evolution of virulence? How environmental, epigenetic and maternal effects influence host immunity? And what is the role of parasitism in the maintenance of hybrids?
Specific topics include:
- Evolution of sexual reproduction
- Multiple infections and the evolution of virulence
- Environmental, epigenetic, and maternal effects on host immunity
- Hybrids and parasitism
